The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) rose on Monday by 0.54% or 27.55 pts to 5102.32 pts, passing the level of 5100 pts.

The consumer staples, energy and investment sectors supported the market’s gains today after adding 3.17%, 1.66%, and 1.36%, respectively, whereas the industrial and services sectors reported the only declines today, shedding 0.65% and 0.10%, respectively.

Fujairah Cement Industries (FCI) topped gainers today, soaring by 14.5%, followed by Abu Dhabi Ship Building and BILDCO with 5.06% and 4.85%. Dana Gas also gained 2.99% after successfully winning two new Nile Delta bids in Egypt.

In a statement to Mubasher, capital market expert Wadah Taha said that the reasons behind the low liquidity will be revealed after the Eid holidays and returning the Emaar Malls’ IPO surplus.

The UAE markets closing in the green today does not necessarily mean an end to market pressures or a direction towards a rising trend in the coming period, Taha noted, highlighting that this is due to low liquidity.

A total of 33 companies traded today, of which 19 were in the green, 10 were in the red and 4 remained unchanged.
